HON. ANNOH- DOMPREH WAS RIGHT ON ALAN KYEREMANTENG AS CHAIRMAN OF ECONOMIC COMMITTEE OF CABINET

The internal politics of the NPP has made some people to deliberately lost touch with the truth even when documents are there to prove it.


Not long ago Hon. Majority chief whip , Hon Annoh- Dompreh came out in a  widely trending video to expose the dishonesty of the camp of Hon. Alan kyeremanten on their deliberate  attempt to tag the Vice President , Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to the country's current economic predicament as a basis to make a case of competence for Hon. Alan kyeremanten to make it look like the Veep was in charge of the economy as the Head of the Economic Management Team and Alan kyeremanten as an ordinary member/observer and that he  couldn't have taken any major decisions.


Weeks after exposing the dishonesty of Hon. Alan kyeremanten, his camp has come out to throw a challenge to the Hon majority chief whip, Hon. ANNOH- Dompreh to provide the list of membership of the Economic Committee of cabinet I quote " *First and foremost we wish to State emphatically and for the records that there is no such Animal called Economic Committee of cabinet and it is only the figment of imagination of Hon. ANNOH- Dompreh" and they went ahead to challenged him to provide the list of members.* 


This write up seeks to enlighten the few people following Hon. Alan kyeremanten on the structures of cabinet and it's committees.


It is very simple, the constitution has made the President the ultimate decision maker and has the mandate to take advise from cabinet to set strategic direction of the country. This is captured in Article 76 (1,2) and 77(1) of the constitution. It says ;

 There shall be a cabinet which shall consist of the President  the Vice and not less than 10 and not more than 19 Ministers of state.


Cabinet shall assist the President in the general determination of policies of government.

There shall be a secretary to the cabinet who shall be appointed by the President.

Those are the provision of the constitution.


 Cabinet as set out in  article 76 works through committees to help in it function. The following are the  cabinet committees with specific roles to cabinet.

1. *Economic committee* 

2. Governance and legal committee

3. Security Committee

4. Social services committee.

5. Infrastructure committee

6. *Special Ad-hoc Committee* , the EMT falls under this committee


For the purposes of the challenge thrown by the communicators of Alan kyeremanten I will like to expatiate further on the Economic committee and the EMT as an Ad-hoc Committee.


Membership of the Economic committee includes;

 *The Trade Minister- Hon Alan Kyeremanten as the _Chairperson_*  

Minister of Finance

Minister of Agric

Minister of Energy

Employment and Labor relation minister

Fisheries and Aqua Culture

Senior Advisor to the President

Economic Advisor to the President.

The roles or mandate of the Economic Committee is self explanatory as the name suggest to see to the management of the economy. ie.Manage imports and exports, Monetary Policies, manage inflation, Make sure there food is in abundance, manage the supply and prices of crude , Job creation, to mention a few. It is important to note that Hon. Alan kyeremanten has been the chair of this committee for 6years and has never objected to any policy proposal from the committee.


So from the above it is only dishonesty ,. desperation and deliberate propaganda that will make anyone deny knowledge of the existence of Economic Committee of cabinet and Alan as the chairperson. 


 

Again it is important to also note that article 76 (2) mandates cabinet to assist the President in the determination of policies of government what  this means is  that the *Economic committee of cabinet* chaired by Mr. Alan kyeremanten has  mandate or role to assist the President in the determination of Economic policies of government ie. Policy on Import and export, Policy on job creation , Policy on Energy, Monetary policy, to mention a few so how could anyone blame the Veep not Alan Kyeremanten if something goes wrong ?


Now the facts has been given to delegates to confirmed the exposé of the Majority chief whip no more propaganda .
